Each July and August the Bates Dance Festival presents a five-week performance
series of internationally renowned contemporary dance artists on the Bates
College campus. In addition, the Festival sponsors acclaimed dance and music
training programs for teens, adults and local disadvantaged youth; produces
outreach projects that engage community members of all ages in the art making
experience; and supports the creation of new works by established and emerging
artists.
Great
Falls Balloon Festival
Also
in August, the Great Falls balloon Festival is host to forty-five hot air
balloonists from across the Northeast, making it one of he largest hot air
balloon festivals in northern New England. The festival features ongoing
activities throughout the weekend for people of all ages
On July 4th the Liberty Festival brings the community together to celebrate with live entertainment, games, food, fun and a grand fireworks display.
After a long Maine winter, and as spring turns to summer, it is time to re-establish community and even to party. Festivals and County Fairs offer an opportunity for citizens and visitors alike to get together on a warm summer day to enjoy and share their various community interests. This being Maine, some activities just can't help but happen in the winter. They are included as well.
The Moxie Festival is held in downtown Lisbon Falls every July honoring Moxie, a
beverage with distinctive taste. Food, crafts, a parade, entertainment, carnival
rides, and much more are available for everyone's enjoyment..
