The Department of
Theater and Rhetoric stages several theater and dance productions each year in
its three theaters - Schaeffer Theatre, Gannett Theater, and Black Box Theater -
ranging from the classics to the avant-garde. In addition, rising playwrights

community-based, local arts agency, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization,
presents several exciting performance series throughout the year, including live
performing arts events in dance, music, and family entertainment from around the
world. In addition, L/A Arts
collaborates with local educational institutions and community organizations,
facilitating artist residencies, workshops, and other art events.
L/A Arts also holds an annual art exhibition and auction in the spring
and offers a youth theatre program during the summer. P $

As a resident,
regional performing arts organization, The Maine Music Society was organized to
support the artistic and educational activities of the professional Maine
Chamber Ensemble and the Androscoggin Chorale. Programs include Battle of the
Blends, Garden Tour, and a concert series in Lewiston, Portland, and Norway. P
